The Two Fatalities Revealed in the Providence Campus Shooting as Law Enforcement Continue Manhunt for Killer.

Two students who lost their lives in the recent mass shooting on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their shooter carried on following the freeing by local law enforcement of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences online, remarking: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

His name was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine other people were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said late Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a search at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our public”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a police source informed the news agency.

Police that searched the hotel seized two firearms and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

A group leader, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “She was famed for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she worked for her branch and other students,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to his relatives, friends, and peers and lament the passing of his bright future.”
