During an inauguration day in office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reimagine” America's largest city, declaring “a new era” and an audacious commencement to his tenure.

A Historic Mayor

The young democratic socialist, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Islamic holy text.
