The goalkeeper Was rarely tested required in the first half but then tested by an opponent's curled attempt. A sliding tackle against an Albanian attacker highlighted excellent game intelligence. Six out of ten

Jarell Quansah Challenged against the opposition's primary attacker in Hoxha. Played more centrally to begin with but moved wider after Saka entered the fray. Seven

John Stones Advanced into midfield when in possession, as he has done previously. Sometimes lacked urgency when carrying play with the experiment abandoned at half-time. 6/10

The tall defender A nuisance at set pieces, as always, could serve as an alternative to Stones at the back instead of his partner. A careless ball after the break almost led to an opener for the visitors. 6/10

The young full-back A further assured performance from the youngster following his first cap versus another side. A teammate was unable to take the most of a clever flick behind the Albania defence. The left-back spot is his to lose at this stage. 7/10

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning with the national team. Somewhat sloppy in possession though his inswinging corners caused problems. A useful game manager available to the boss to utilize versus sides that sit back. Booked for a rash foul. 6/10

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free-kicks were dangerous. Was given room to drift down the left flank yet found himself offside as the pass came in shooting positions. Awarded a merited break on the hour mark. Six

The star midfielder Operated in a forward position down the right and put in defensive duties. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but scuffed an attempt wide. Withdrawn late on by Rogers, his competition, following a yellow card. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s best chance of the first half, his effort smartly stopped by Thomas Strakosha. As Quansah holding position, he was forced to provide width on the right but his crosses from wide areas were hit and miss. Replaced for the final quarter-hour. 6

The captain The difference-maker scoring 77th and 78th finishes at international level. His first a typical poacher’s finish and the second a superb finish with his head following a clever run away from the opposition. At 32, he’s only getting better and England have every chance next summer when he's in the team. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Had difficulty to make an impact on the left flank. Was presented with a presentable chance after being played in by Bellingham however the keeper made the save. Rashford made much more of effect when substituted. 5
