No professional sports organization promotes parity like the NFL: it’s the entire brand. Yet following 10 weeks of this season, this doesn't represent a landscape that is equally balanced among elite teams, poor performers, and average squads. It’s one where most of the league appear to be fine.

NFC Standings Definition

In the NFC, to some degree, the picture becomes more distinct. Denver Broncos

The Broncos are also 8-2, and the perception remains as if they’re holding their breath. Bo Nix has shown inconsistency, and the offensive unit laboring, as the defense handles all the heavy lifting. Without serviceable quarterback play, the Broncos won't frighten any playoff team. The Chargers are also hovering within their division with seven wins, but the injuries along their offensive line will present challenges for extended playoff success.

Steelers Examination

And then there’s Pittsburgh, inexplicably frontrunning the Northern division even after suffering a 25-10 defeat from the Chargers during prime time. They have a negative point differential, their defense regularly vanishes, with their quarterback's restrictions during his career phase persistently appear. They maintain a 5-4 record while surviving, but Baltimore, with Lamar Jackson healthy again with manageable games ahead, are riding a three-game streak. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that the Ravens have narrowed the gap to just one game, though the speed of this shift is an indictment of the Steelers' uneven performances. Considering the Ravens opened the season 1-5 and still look like they should win the division is telling about the complete conference.

Established Contenders

Baltimore constitutes part within a trio of powerhouses – alongside the Bills and Chiefs – fueled by former MVP signal-callers, that would continue to generate the highest anxiety among competitors if they made the playoffs. They represent undesirable playoff matchups, however, both franchises persistently undermine themselves.

Bills Struggles

Last week, the Bills felt confident post Chiefs triumph. On Sunday they suffered a particularly discouraging setback during the campaign. They didn't merely fall versus the Dolphins; they looked terrible, falling 30-13 on the road. This represented Miami's initial victory against Buffalo in more than 1,000 days.
