Brian Eno Urges Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The track was produced after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All participated in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of music creators. The track features a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the project have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative commented. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The song is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
